Un Certain Regard Awards Ceremony

Un Certain Regard 2008 presented 20 films from 23 directors hailing from 23 different countries. 7 of the works were first films.
The program opened on Thursday, the 15th, with Hunger by Steve McQueen.

Presided over by Fatih Akin (Filmmaker from Germany), the Jury was comprised of Anupama Chopra (Journalist with New Delhi Television in India), Catherine Mtsitouridze (Journalist with Russian National Television), Yasser Moheb (Critic with Al Ahram Weekly in Egypt) and José Maria Prado (Director of the Filmoteca Española in Spain).

“Our mission was to attribute three prizes for Un Certain Regard, but considering the quality and richness of the offerings, and as a testimony of our great enthusiasm, the jury requested of the festival permission to recognize two more films with honors.”
