Cannes Classics continues to bring back films from the past with the screening of Marcel l’Herbier’s, Au petit bonheur (Happy Go Lucky, 1946). This feature-length film will be shown in the Salle Buñuel, at 5 p.m., in a version restored by the French Archives of the Centre National du Cinéma and Image Animée, and StudioCanal.
The title, Au Petit Bonheur, leads us to expect a harmonious and idyllic story. However, the film is about a turbulent love affair between Martine and Denis characterised by an endless repetition of “I love you, I don't” and “we split up, we get back together”. Until the day Martine meets an old and distinguished novelist.
