Cinéfondation opens its doors with three short films
Created in 1998 to provide support for young filmmakers, Cinéfondation will present 13 short films between today and Friday, selected from the panorama of 1500 film school productions. Starting this afternoon at 14:30, Salle Buñuel.
To choose amongst the short films selected, Atom Egoyan, president of the jury, will be accompanied by actresses Emmanuelle Devos, Dinara Droukarova and directors Carlos Diegues and Marc Recha. Three films are being screened today.
The Hungarian short film Itt Vagyok (Here I am) by Bàlint Szimler will open the programme with the story of Viktor, an insomniac, who wanders at random through the streets of Budapest to try to overcome his sleep disorder. This film won the Best Short Film award at the Hungarian Film Week.
The French short film El Juego (The Game) by Benjamin Naishtat is another story about wandering, but this time it takes place in the middle of the jungle, where people chase each other for reasons that are not clear. The director is an alumnus of the Le Fresnoy training centre in Tourcoing.
The South Korean film Frozen Land by Kim Tae-yong will close the programme. One day, two smugglers of clandestine immigrants find the bodies of their “clients” dead in a refrigerated lorry. Only one survivor remains, and what they will do with her remains to be seen.…
