Personal Shopper by Olivier Assayas was awarded Best Director Ex-Aequo by Arnaud Desplechin and László Nemes.

The director received the award with the words: “To stay that I’m moved is putting it mildly. Cannes has given me so much, and has rewarded me this year with a prize that I'm sharing with a filmmaker I admire: Cristian Mungiu. Directing a film is a collective endeavour. I feel I’ve created a group that is being awarded the prize; a whole family with whom I developed a cinematographic language.”
