Using our logo

The logo of the Festival de Cannes and all its variants constitute a trademark registered by the French Association of the International Film Festival. The graphic principles of the charter specified hereafter must imperatively be respected by users.
The utilisation of these various logos is strictly reserved to the organisation of the Festival de Cannes, its official partners, as well as those companies publishing advertising material for the selected and/or award-winning films.
Any other utilisation without authorisation is strictly prohibited and subject to legal prosecution.

1. THE FESTIVAL DE CANNES LOGOTYPE

How to identify the logotype

The name : L’identité visuelle se fonde sur l’adoption exclusive du nom “Festival de Cannes”.
The identity is based on one unique name "Festival de Cannes". All other name variants that employ the terms Festival, International, Film and Cannes are obsolete and are to be replaced by "Festival de Cannes".
The unique exception : "l'Association Française du Festival International du Film", the official legal name of the organisation.

The Palme : To ensure that the palm logotype conforms to the chart, it is recommended to use an original copy of the logotype file created by the organisers.
In case of doubt, it is possible to identify the logotype through two distinguishing marks.

a) The varying width of the elipse

b) The reduction in the number of leaves : 19

The colour references

On documents printed in 4 colours, the logotype must appear in the Festival blue.
Quadri :
Cyan 100 %
Magenta 72 %
Black 18 %
For 4 colour reproduction of the logo smaller than 22mm the logotype should be printed in black and white.

The use of the logotype in white on a colour background is permitted on the condition of a correct lisibility.
All use of the palm outside of the official logotype is strictly prohibited to all parties other than the organiser and the organiser's official publications.

The dimensions

Minimum logotype dimension
The minimum logotype dimension for the logotype should not be inferior than 17mm.
Minimum margin around the logotype
The minimum margin is indicated by the exterior red dotted line.

The logotype restrictions

The logotype can only be used in it's original form.
The following examples are not permitted.
Change the typography
Print in 2 different colours
Remove certain elements
Change the proportion
of the different elements
Add new elements
Incline the logotype

2. THE OFFICIAL SELECTION LOGOTYPES

The following logotypes are for use on all items destined for the promotion of a film (posters, advertising, DVD or video packaging).

It is only possible to cite a selection with the use of the Festival palm with the official corresponding logotype.
Colour
The authorised colours for these logotypes are :
  • Pantone 280 (4 colours : C 100 % M 72 % B 18%)
  • White (on a colour or photographic background)
  • Black 100%

3. THE AWARDS LOGOTYPES

The following logotypes are for use on all items destined for the promotion of a film (posters, advertising, DVD or video packaging).

It is only possible to cite an award with the use of the Festival palm with the official corresponding logotype.

Colour
The authorised colours for these logotypes are :
  • Pantone 280 (4 colours : C 100 % M 72 % B 18%)
  • White (on a colour or photographic background)
  • Black 100%

The Palme d’Or

Logo Palme d’Or
The Palme d'Or is a representation of the award created by the festival and is the inspiration behind the Festival logotype.

Its use is stricly limited to the winning film.
Colour
4 colours : Use the illustrated palm with the "gold effect". A second version exists without a dropshadow for use on colour or photographic backgrounds.
Pantone : The pantone colour reference is gold 872. There exists a direct colour logo without gradiation for this purpose. The text can be printed in either black or white depending on the background.
The text "Palme d'Or" & "Festival de Cannes" must appear in either black or white depending on the background.

The Awards

4. THE LOGOTYPES OF TTHE FILIAL ORGANIZATIONS

Colour
For usage on documentation, the logotypes of the filiale organisations can be printed in :
  • Pantone 280
  • 4 colours : C 100 % M 72 % B 18 %
  • White
  • Black (100%)

Typography
The filiale organisations are subject to the same identity guidelines as the Festival de Cannes.

5. THE OFFICIAL PARTNERS & SUPPLIERS LOGOTYPES

The guidelines for the use of Partner and Supplier logotypes of the Festival de Cannes

The use of the Palm by the official partners & suppliers is strictly limited to the specific logotype creared for their use. It is not authorised to use the palm independantly from the rest of the logotype.

The use of the Festival de Cannes identity is limited to the organisers, films in competition and the official partners and suppliers.

The function of these logotypes is to clearly indicate the role of partner or supplier on all documentation and every media. It is the only means at their disposition to use the Festival identity and the palm.

Colour
In 4 colour printing the logotypes cannot be printed in anything other than the Festival blue, black or white.

Use of the logotypes in dimensions inferior to 30mm wide
For all use of the logotypes in a size smaller than 30mm wide, there exists a second version for smaller uses of the logotype with an optimised lisibility.
