The Honorary Palme d’or was awarded to Jean-Pierre Léaud by Arnaud Desplechin in recognition of the actor’s entire career.

The actor was deeply moved, drawing a parallel with the young boy he played in The 400 Blows, when he was 14 years of age: “I was born at Cannes in 1959, when François Truffaut, a formidable critic of his time, nervously presented his first film, which was received with warm applause.” I feel the same joy today as I did 58 years ago.”

He also mentioned all the great directors with whom he has collaborated: “I never wanted to build a career, but I chose to work with directors I like.
