In the very heart of the Festival de Cannes, the International Village is an exhibition space and a meeting point for all countries producing films who wish to showcase their cultural identity, their institutions, and the diversity of their projects.

In a prime setting, the International Village offers each delegation the opportunity to promote the vibrancy of its cinema and industry, and at the same time promotes connections with the global industry. The International Village, a link between the Festival de Cannes and the Marché du Film, consists of an artistic showcase of international cinema and a genuine space for discussion where projects and ideas emerge.

Numerous French institutions take part, including the CNC, Unifrance, the CST, the APIE, and the SACD, alongside film commissions from various countries, including the Finland Film Commission and the Austrian Film Commission, therefore furthering the site's cultural diversity.

Israel is new among the countries represented this year, taking the opportunity to share its culture, creativity, and democracy through its cinema. Already celebrated during this 69th festival edition at Un Certain Regard with Omor Shakhsiya (Personal Affairs) by Maha Haj and Me'ever Laharim Vehagvaot (Beyond the Mountains and Hills) by Eran Kolirin, Israel asserts a genuine wish to make its film industry a priority and to show the different facets of its identity.

Opened in 2000, the International Village which welcomed twelve countries and consisted of 14 pavilions now welcomes 58. Its ascent and success have led to the creation of the Eastern Europe Pavilion which alone groups together eight countries, with a view to facilitating access to each one. In 2016, the International Village has once again demonstrated its vibrancy.
