    Synopsis

    Ce film traite de la pauvreté des paysans et il montre comment le petit fermier honnête et respectable sur son lopin de terre, peut-être contraint pour des raisons économiques à se rendre à la ville et à affronter ses dangers et sa solitude. Le paysan en question s'appelle Shambhu. Son fils viendra le rejoindre pour l'aider et se laissera facilement corrompre... Sans nouvelles de sa famille, la femme de Shambhu se rend à Calcutta. Le jeune garçon se repent et tous trois retournent au village. Ils découvrent alors une énorme usine implantée sur la terre qu'ils désiraient posséder depuis si longtemps.
