This evening, the Festival Agora will be hosting a benefit event for Haiti organised by Sean Penn, Petra Nemcova and Paul Haggis. All three came together to give a press conference to explain to journalists the course of this evening's festivities and their work in Haiti.

If Sean Penn had a message for Barack Obama
It's very simple. Since the U.S. is a country where Africans were slaves and were able to revolt against it, I think our great President of the United States should do something for this country. Even in Florida, where there is a considerable Haitian diaspora, the Democratic Party should initiate a dialogue.

Paul Haggis on the partnership between the three organisers' associations
We work in different areas and we work together. You can work in the long term, that is what we are trying to do. At first we were criticised for our attitude. Most people just come for a few days. Sean announced at the beginning: we are here to stay.

Priorities in Haiti according to Sean Penn
We know that the children need to go to school. Education is paramount, as is health. A basic infrastructure is needed, roads. The key for Haiti is the creation of jobs, jobs that will create a middle class. And if we were to leave Haiti, we'd come back as tourists.

Sean Penn on his humanitarian work
This word "humanitarian" - people who know me know that I do not like it very much. When I work in Haiti, I don't want people calling me an aid worker. Sometimes we are just in certain places at certain times. If we weren't alongside these people, we'd be ashamed.
