3 questions to Simón MESA SOTO

For his movie LEIDI

Which route has had your short film since its awards at Festival de Cannes last year?

Winning the Palme d’Or Short Film at Cannes generated huge interest around the world, many people wanted to see the film. It immediately received invitations to be presented at festivals worldwide. It is very gratifying as a filmmaker that so many people want to see my work. That’s what happens with Leidi, we have been in over 20 festivals.

What would you advise to directors in competition this year?

Leave aside the pressures and enjoy the festival, meet people and watch movies. It is a great learning experience for emerging filmmakers like me. Be in the center of the cinema world and understand how this kind of event works.

What are your current projects?

I’m directing another short film, a format that I really like and hope to continue doing. And I write what will be my first feature, I hope to have the script ready soon to start looking for resources.
