One of the most translated modern French authors, J.M.G. Le Clézio was born on April 13, 1940 in Nice of Franco Mauritian parents. He studied literature in Aix en Provence and London and devoted himself to writing novels, short stories and essays. He published his first novel Le procès-verbal in September 1963 and received the "Prix Renaudot". His work counts about thirty volumes. In 1980, he was awarded the "Grand Prix Paul Morand" by the French Academy for his novel Désert. His latest novel Ourania was published by Gallimard like most of his other books. J.M.G. Le Clézio has travelled in many countries and now lives in New Mexico, United States with his wife and children.
