English actress Kate Beckinsale first gained notice in Kenneth Branagh’s Much Ado About Nothing, followed by Jonathan Kaplan’s Brokedown Palace. She later went on to star in blockbusters such as Pearl Harbor by Michael Bay, Laurel Canyon by Lisa Cholodenko and The Aviator by Martin Scorsese, opposite Leonardo DiCaprio. Beckinsale’s popularity grew when she starred in the vampire tales Underworld and Underworld 2: Evolution. In 2009 Beckinsale stared in Everybody’s Fine opposite Robert DeNiro, and in Rod Lurie’s independant political drama Nothing but the Truth by Rod Lurie opposite Alan Alda and Matt Dillon, where she earned vast recognition for her performance.
