From the traditional TwinSelecter DJ set that precedes every screening at the Cinéma de la Plage, to the famous soundtrack of Grease, this special open-air event is all about the music! Event session: the film's director Randal Kleiser will be in attendance, alongside the hip-tastic John Travolta who famously played the starring role. The first Grease movie, a rock 'n' roll sensation from 1978 but with a decidedly fifties feel, is sure to get the Croisette movin' and shakin' with the global hit You're the one that I want!"

1978. I got chills, they're multiplying! In the heart of the disco era, the year was permeated by the sounds of rock 'n' roll. John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John play Danny and Sandy in this romance between a teenage couple who transform into musical stage stars, setting young audiences alight. The film's success can be attributed to the alluring charm of the actors, of course, and the atmosphere of 1950s America, but also the choreography which, though frequently imitated, is rarely matched. The group of high school friends formed by the Pink ladies, the T-Birds and the Scorpions never fails to get us up dancing, with a truly irresistible soundtrack that continues to liven up the atmosphere of many a party, even 40 years on. Hopelessly Devoted to You, sung solo by Olivia Newton-John, was even nominated at the 1979 Oscars in the category for Best Original Song!

You’d better shape up (Doo, doo, doo), cause I need a man! (Doo, doo, doo)

From Summer Nights (Tell me more) to Look at me, I'm Sandra Dee, and so many more, this 1971 musical spawned a plethora of hugely popular hits. Four years on, a sequel was made, directed by Patricia Birch, choreographer of the original film, with Michelle Pfeiffer in the leading role. But unfortunately Grease 2 did not reach the same levels of success.
