For its 25th edition, La Cinef has selected 13 live-action and 3 animated shorts directed by 6 male directors and 10 women directors, from among the 1,528 submitted by film schools all over the world. Four of them are from schools taking part for the first time and these 16 shorts reflect the diversity of filmmaking education in the world.

THE PASS by Pepi GINSBERG

USA – 15'

On holiday, Ben declines an offer from a handsome man, Sam, to go to a private beach, The Pass. While there, Ben swims and meets Christopher who grows aggressive as he struggles to mask his desires for Ben, leaving him afraid to get out of the water.

IL BARBIERE COMPLOTTISTA (A CONSPIRACY MAN) by Valerio FERRARA

Italy – 19'

In a lower-class neighborhood in Rome, there is a barber who believes in conspiracy theories. He is the laughing stock of his family but also at work. Nobody takes him seriously until he gets arrested by the police.

Locked up in their own apartments, some neighbors tell the camera about the little troubles of life in community. Little by little, when everything piles up, it's enough to drive one mad.

Denmark – 49'

An absurd modern anti-romantic love story about falling in and out of love, driven by a discussion of the statement made by relationship professionals that "love consists of 20% feelings and 80% willpower".

LA CINEF: young filmmakers at Cannes 2022

The 3 La Cinef Prizes will be handed at a ceremony preceding the screening of the awarded films on Thursday 26 May, in the Buñuel Theatre.
