For its 25th edition, La Cinef has selected 13 live-action and 3 animated shorts directed by 6 male directors and 10 women directors, from among the 1,528 submitted by film schools all over the world. Four of them are from schools taking part for the first time and these 16 shorts reflect the diversity of filmmaking education in the world.

GLORIOUS REVOLUTION by Masha NOVIKOVA

United Kingdom, Ukraine, Germany- 20'

In 2014, at the height of the Ukrainian revolution, a mother loses her son who is killed while protesting in Independence Square. Her attempt to bury him as a hero clashes with a corrupt bureaucratic system, testing her view of Ukraine.

A young girl explores new boundaries in her relationship with her widowed father following the entry of a new woman into his life.

SPRING ROLL DREAM by Mai VU

United Kingdom – 9'

When Linh's father visits her in America and insists on cooking a traditional Vietnamese meal for the family, the dinner takes on a life of its own, confronting Linh with her past and culture.

TOUT CECI VOUS REVIENDRA (ALL OF THIS BELONGS TO YOU) by Lilian FANARA

France – 29'

A brother and sister reunite in Gabrielle's apartment, where they exchange memories of her and maybe come to understand each other a little better than before.

LA CINEF: young filmmakers at Cannes 2022

The 3 La Cinef Prizes will be handed at a ceremony preceding the screening of the awarded films on Thursday 26 May, in the Buñuel Theatre.
