Since her starring role in Basic Instinct, the top-grossing film of 1992, Sharon Stone has become one of Hollywood's most sought-after leading ladies.
Before her success in Basic Instinct, she garnered attention as the secret agent in Total Recall, directed by Paul Verhoeven, who also directed Basic Instinct.
Her first film appearance was Stardust Memories directed by Woody Allen.
Then, she starred in and executive produced the critically acclaimed The Mighty. She received a Golden Globe nomination for her portrayal of a mother of a disabled child.
She also starred in Last Dance directed by Bruce Beresford, Sphere directed by Barry Levinson, the remake of John Cassavetes Gloria directed by Sidney Lumet, The Muse directed by Albert Brooks - she earned a Golden Globe Award -, Intersection directed by Mark Rydell, Sliver directed by Phillip Noyce and the Quick and the Dead directed by Sam Raimi.
She received an Academy Award nomination and won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for her role in Martin Scorsese's Casino in which she starred opposite Robert de Niro and Joe Pesci.
