Synopsis
Dans les environs d'Hollywood on trouve le corps nu d'une belle jeune femme. Aucune trace extérieure de violences ne permet de conclure à un crime. Ben, détective astucieux, découvre vite l'identité de la morte : Lu Sostlova, la séduisante épouse d'un homme de science tchèque émigré. C'est pourtant un assassinat. Mais qui est l'assassin ?
Le journal de Lu Sostlova n'est pas une lecture pour Enfant de Marie. Ben se rend vite compte que les noms qui y figurent sont autant de traces qu'il faut suivre...
Le docteur Steiniger, peintre et sculpteur aux cheveux déjà blancs, avait-il une raison d'attenter à la vie de son beau modèle ? Ou était-ce Peter de Lor que Lu avait savamment déniaisé quand il était encore tout gamin ?
