Raymond Depardon’s Country Profiles: Modern Life won the 2008 Louis Delluc Prize on Friday, 12 December at a ceremony at Fouquet’s in Paris.
Presented at Un Certain Regard at the 2008 Festival de Cannes, Modern Life, last episode of his triptych, Country Profiles, is a documentary on middle-mountain agricultural life.

Created in 1937, the Louis Delluc Prize is awarded to the best French film of the year. Its jury, essentially composed of film critics, is presided by Gilles Jacob.
Equally in the running for this prize, The Class by Laurent Cantet, A Christmas Tale by Arnaud Desplechin, Séraphine by Martin Provost, Just Anybody by Jacques Doillon, Dernier maquis by Rabah Ameur-Zaïmeche, and Summer Hours by Olivier Assayas.
The Apprentice, by Samuel Collardey, won the prize for Best First Film.
