Cannes Classics: “Peppermint Frappé” by Carlos Saura

The Cannes Classics program continues with the screening of Peppermint Frappé in Salle Buñuel. Trivia buffs will revel in the knowledge that in May 1968, this was the film being screened In Competition when a group of New Wave cineastes led by François Truffaut and Jean-Luc Godard burst into the auditorium, demanding a show of solidarity with striking students and workers. Spanish director Carlos Saura graciously agreed to have his film “stand aside to make way for the revolution.”
