The Fifth Short Film Corner

Caroline Ienné

Since its inception in 2004, the Short Film Corner has become an annual event film-industry professionals are careful not to miss, an excellent opportunity for directors, producers, and distributors to discover the talents of tomorrow. For the fifth consecutive year, this program, aimed at promoting the diffusion of short films and creating bridges to feature-length contracts, is fulfilling its goals. It is now the prime global marketplace for shorts. Eighty countries are on the scene this year, represented by a total of 1780 short films (which include those in the Official Selection and Cinéfondation). All the films have been digitized and are available for viewing on an ongoing basis, on thirty interactive screens. Offering a broad panorama of the selection and current trends, the Short Film Corner is also the event where many short films premiere. The program also includes round-table discussions, lectures, happy hours, and power breakfasts where attendees can meet and discover the thriving market.
