Un Certain Regard: “Wendy and Lucy” by Kelly Reichardt

Speaking to the crowd in Salle Debussy for the premiere of Wendy et Lucy, director Kelly Reichardt expressed her gratitude to the Festival de Cannes for selectng the film for Un Certain Regard.

An adaptation of the Jon Raymond novel Train Choir, this is a road movie through the wide-open American spaces. Wendy is bound for Alaska, where she hopes to find a job and start a new life. However, when her car breaks down in Oregon, her precarious budget suddenly collapses. The only person who is friendly enough to give her a helping hand is a supermarket security guard.
