Joseph Losey's 1979 "Don Giovanni" at Cinéma de la Plage
At 8:30pm, The Cinéma de la Plage outdoor theatre invites festivalgoers to a concert by Jean-Michel Bernard, Michel Gondry’s official composer. Bernard has written the original scores for Human Nature, The Science of Sleep, and Be Kind, Rewind. In addition to "Message to Ray," he will personally honor Maurice Jarre.
At 9:30pm, a hush will fall and the screening of Joseph Losey’s adaptation of Don Giovanni (1979), one of Mozart’s most famous operas, shot entirely in natural settings, will begin. A manipulative charmer, Don Giovanni ruthlessly breaks women’s hearts until the day the ghost of the Commandatore (who was slain by Don Giovanni) returns for revenge.
