“Tale in the Darkness” in Un Certain Regard

Nikolay Khomeriki, past winner of a Cinéfondation prize for "Vdvoyom”

In Cannes for the Un Certain Regard presentation of Tale in the Darkness, Nikolay Khomeriki of Russian origin is not an unknown at the Festival, having won a runner-up prize in the Cinefondation Selection in 2005 for his short film Vdvoyom. The following year he was back in Cannes and in the running for a Camera d’Or for his debut feature film 977, also presented in Un Certain Regard.

In Tale in the Darkness, the Russian director brings to the screen Angelina, a rather solitary individual. She’s a policewoman and devotes herself body and soul into helping delinquents and youth in difficulty. Until one day, she decides to find time in her life to discover love…
