Continuation and conclusion of the Cinéfondation screenings

The Cinéfondation will have taken just three days to travel around the world of short and medium length student films. Four final screenings will take place today in the Salle Buñuel at 11am, the last in a series of thirteen films.
On the Cinéfondation programme today, Isjland (Iceland) by Belgian film-maker Gilles Coulier. A student at the Saint-Lukas Brussels University College of Art and Design, this young director is presenting his first film: “It’s the story of a man who comes out of prison and who meets up with his ex-girlfriend.”
Next on the program is Shelley, a film by Andrew Wesman. A student at Harvard, this young American director is no novice: “I’m twenty-two years old and I’ve been making movies since I was nine.” Shelley, a fourteen year-old, commits a murder. Folorn, the young girl tries to understand what she has done.
Hailing from Germany and studying in London, Jens Blank is passionate about animation. His short film Cooked tells an unlikely tale of love in a triangular relationship between a walrus, a seal and a lobster in a sauna. Jens Blank explains what lies behind his animated film: “I wanted to make a movie about communication and the way people interact.”
Matyas Priklev, author of Dakujem, Dobre (Thanks, Fine) has the honour of closing the Cinéfondation selection. His film looks at an intimate family circle to show human relationships fraying against a background of economic crisis.
 
After mulling over their selection, the Jury chaired by Atom Egoyan will announce the three prize-winning films at 16h30.
