Opening : The Atelier of the Cinéfondation
The Atelier of the Cinéfondation meetings opened this morning. The idea is for the producers and directors of selected projects to meet with co-producers, distributors, assistance funds, financiers who can help them get the funding that they need.
The Atelier selects around the world each year around fifteen feature film projects and invites their directors to the Cannes Film Festival. Filmmakers are selected based on the quality of their project and previous films, as well as the state of progress in terms of their funding. Among the fifteen projects there are namely three filmmakers who have already been selected at the Festival: Rithy Panh, Jaime Rosales and Shinji Aoyama.
The Atelier is an initiative by the Cinéfondation, which was in charge of selecting short and mid-length films by film schools and the Residence, and its aim is to support cinematographic creation around the world and help prepare the younger generation of filmmakers.
The Atelier publishes a Book of Projects available to professionals and the media that can be downloaded from this site.
In Cannes, the Pavillon de L’Atelier is located in the Village international-Pantiero. The films that have already been made by the filmmakers as well as the scripts being worked on can be consulted there.
