The Village international, which first opened in 2000, offers festival-goers a tour of the world of cinema. Each participating country has its own pavilion which serves as an information and meeting point where it can show off its cultural identity, its institutions, its film-making industry and its artists.
Since its creation back in 2000, the International Village has expanded constantly from around fifteen pavilions to over sixty today. In addition, while the Village-Pantiero plays host to French institutions (CNC, Sacd, Unifrance, Film France and its network of regional commissions, CST, Rendez-vous des exploitants, and so on), the Village-Riviera serves as a venue for the European Union’s pavilion and that of Cinémas du monde, as well as 46 national pavilions. This year, four countries are represented for the first time: Albania, China, Cyprus and Macedonia.
