Eight short films by young talent from the Île-de-France region on the beach at Cannes

The Cinéma de la plage will offer not one, but eight surprise films this evening. Eight Banlieuz’Art award-winning short films. The competition is in its second edition.

Founded in 2011 by Emmanuel Prévost and Jean-Rachid, Banlieuz’art aims to draw attention to the creative work of talented young people from the Île-de-France region through its short films competition. Each year, the association selects the eight best projects, and provides them with financial (€5,000), technical and operational support. The winners are also given the opportunity to get their work noticed by film professionals, via the Short Film Corner at Cannes in May, and by the general public, through screenings in several cultural locations in the Ile de France region during the month of June.

To take part in the competition, entrants must be aged between 18 and 35 years, and put forward a film lasting between 5 and 15 minutes. The Jury is made up of two of the association’s founders along with six film professionals – this year, Djamel Bensalah, Anne de Pétrini, Lakshan Abenayake, Olivier Chiavassa, Nadia Fossier and Thierry Neuvic. The eight members of the Jury are also the winners’ sponsors.

The eight films selected to be screened at the Cinéma de la Plage this year are: Allegretto by Fran Viña, Bad Toys II by Nicolas Douste and Daniel Brunet, Delivery by Fabien-Mariano Ortiz, Incidences by David Hadjadj, Le Commencement by Guillaume Tordjman, Le Vase by Mike Zonnenberg, Pandémie by Mathieu Naert, and Résiliation by Justin Blanckaert and Julien Rideau.
