“Hang on, I’ve got Spielberg on the line…” – who has not made or heard this joke? Steven Spielberg is the ultimate reference when it comes to cinema.  He is appreciated by critics and audiences alike, all over the world.

It is difficult to sum up his career. Jaws, E.T., Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, Schindler‘s List, Saving Private Ryan, Tintin, Lincoln… He has made 28 films and almost as many masterpieces. Or at least films which stick in our memories and which have given generations of film lovers and filmmakers a taste for cinema.

Despite a very busy schedule, the American director and producer is delighted to be presiding over the Jury of the 66th Festival de Cannes, a festival with which he has a special relationship. He received his first award here: the award for best script for his first feature film, The Sugarland Express, in 1974. It is also here that E.T. was born, in 1982, as he explains in his interview with us.
