Festival de Cannes is a partner of the ‘Lycéens et apprentis au Cinéma’ programme which aims to offer insight into the film industry and stir the curiosity of a younger generation of film buffs. The schools programme is run by the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region in conjunction with the Festival de Cannes, Directors’ Fortnight, La Semaine de la Critique and the Association for Independent Cinema and its Distribution (ACID). For several years now, selected schools in the region have had the opportunity to attend one to two days of screenings and events.

A class of 38 students and their teachers from Lycée Alphonse Benoît in Isle sur la Sorgue were the guests of the ‘Lycéens et apprentis au Cinéma’ programme at the 67th Festival de Cannes. The students were thrilled at the chance to share in the frenzied excitement of Festival screenings. This year’s group was invited to view Xenia by Greek director Panos Koutras – which has been selected for Un Certain Regard – and to attend the red carpet screening of an In Competition film, David Cronenberg’s Maps to the Stars.

We heard gleeful reports of an action-packed day of films, interviews and coming to terms with black tie attire!
