Awards – Best Director
The Best Director prize has been awarded to Nie Yinniang (The Assassin) by Hou Hsiao-Hsien.
On receiving the prize from the hands of actress Valeria Golino, the winner thanked the film team: “It’s my seventh time in Cannes. I’ve won a prize before, but this one is very special.”
