JURY PRESS CONFERENCE – Joel Coen : “We’re happy to be here in Cannes, to take the time to see some movies”
Just a few hours before the first Red Carpet event of the 68th Festival de Cannes, the Feature Film Jury chaired by Joel and Ethan Coen, which will award the Palme d’or on May 24, held its traditional press conference this Wednesday. Some extracts.
Joel Coen and Ethan Coen: “We were really happy to get the call from Thierry Frémaux. We would be able to come to Cannes and finally take the time to see some movies!”
Sophie Marceau: “Sharing this Jury with such talented people, that gives you a lot of energy. And we are so lucky to have the beautiful face of Ingrid Bergman watching over us!”
Rokia Traoré: “I am passionate about this field, music, which is closely tied to the cinema. I think that when you feel passionately about something, it’s sometimes difficult to find the time to actually enjoy it. Here we’re going to watch all these movies and share some really special moments.”
Guillermo del Toro : “I know what it means to be selected at Cannes; it changed my life. This Festival is a true celebration of cinema, it’s a huge opportunity in your career to be a part of this adventure.”
Jake Gyllenhaal : “I was extremely honored to be chosen to be a member of this Jury. I’m surrounded by brilliant people that I admire enormously. Seeing as I’m kind of Swedish, I hope I might be associated in some way with Ingrid Bergman… She is wonderful.”
Sienna Miller : “I have never been to Cannes, and I feel humble to be a part of this group of film makers and actors. I love the fact that we all come from different horizons.”
Xavier Dolan : “I have been privileged by this Festival. Today I’m here to discover these movies as a lover of cinema, and my responsibility on this jury is to defend what touches me as a human being.”
Rossy de Palma : “When I heard the news about the invitation to be a part of this Jury, I yelled “Yippee! Especially of the big Jury!”
