“I’d like to thank the Festival, Thierry Frémaux, Nancy Grant, my producer and Anne Dorval, who first told me about this play. I want to thank the Jury for having felt the emotion of the film. It’s not always easy to share your emotions with others. Violence is sometimes a cry, a material that kills. I hope I didn’t let Jean-Luc Lagarce down. Everything you do in life, you do in order to be loved, and to be accepted. At least that’s true of me. The older I get, the more I realise it’s not easy to be understood. I know now that I have to make films that resemble me. Without compromising. I know that, just like two years ago, this moment is going to change my life. As Anatole France said, “I prefer the madness of passion to the wisdom of indifference.”
