For the past four years, “Behind the Lens” has provided the public with a more personal and diverse view of the event, as captured through the eyes and signature styles of the photographers in attendance at Cannes. A daily rendez-vous in 2016.

Ever since he was at high school, Laurent Koffel has been creating fanzines in which he publishes his own work as an illustrator. After the success of the fanzine Pirates, he set up his own business at the age of 20 and launched Coyote Mag, a magazine dedicated to Japanese culture, in 1997.

In parallel to his occupations as illustrator / chief editor / computer graphic designer, he continued studying at film school and directed his first short films. He was noticed for a parody of X-Files broadcast on the French TV channel M6, and worked for the series' fan club in France. He also worked as a journalist for the magazines Starfix and Sfx between 1999 and 2001, before creating La Guilde de Buffy (a fan club of the series Buffy the Vampire Slayer).

In 2002, he sensed that there would be a comeback of the manga wave in France, so he relaunched Coyote Mag and began photographing Japanese artists for the magazine. He is still editorial director and photographer for Coyote Mag, whilst also contributing to several other publications including Bande à Part, Séries TV, Impact magazines (UK).

He regularly works as a photographer (and sometimes an actor) for productions of feature films, video clips, album covers and concerts. He is represented by the agencies, Gamma-Rapho and Getty Images.
