Iñ</strong><strong>á</strong><strong>rritu, on the unanimous choice of the Palme d’or </strong></p> <p style="text-align:justify"><a href="/en/festival/films/gisaengchung"><em>Gisaengchung</em> (<em>Parasite</em>) </a>was a unique experience and we all shared in this mystery. We were all fascinated by this film and that fascination grew ever stronger.</p> <p style="text-align:justify"> </p> <p style="text-align:justify"><strong>Alejandro G. Iñ</strong><strong>á</strong><strong>rritu, on the social aspect of the prizewinners</strong></p> <p style="text-align:justify">Most of the films are about social justice. Most of the themes in the prizewinning films are pressing – the world is reflected in art, and the ambition of art is to pick up on the frequencies that take us into the future. All that is expressed in the language of cinema. I think that film must try to raise social awareness throughout the world.</p> <p style="text-align:justify">The director insisted however on one point: there is no political message in this collection of prizewinners. We didn't want to convey a message. Our decision was a cinematographic one, not a political one. Cinema tells its own story.</p> <p style="text-align:justify"> </p> <p style="text-align:justify"><strong>Enki Bilal, on the Grand Prix awarded to<em> </em><a href="/en/festival/films/atlantique"><em>Atlantique (Atlantics)</em></a></strong></p> <p style="text-align:justify">It's a film that seduced us, and didn't let go. It has poetry, an uncompromising gaze, and it is also a film of great humility.</p> <p style="text-align:justify"><strong>Alice Rohrwacher on the same subject  </strong></p> <p style="text-align:justify">It is a symbolic treatment, a film that speaks of a tragedy that is experienced every day.</p> <p style="text-align:justify"><strong>Elle Fanning</strong></p> <p style="text-align:justify">This film touched us to the very end.
