After Cannes, the films discovered on the Croisette begin their journey around the world. To cinemas, of course, where they are eagerly awaited by their audience, but also to other Festivals and film award ceremonies: the Oscars, Golden Globes, European Awards, César, BAFTAs, and more. Each year, the harvest of prizes garnered confirms the quality of the Cannes Official Selection and, above all, reinforces the success and promises a long life abroad for the works in which the Festival placed its trust.

Throughout the autumn, the Festival has been thrilled to see the films unveiled at Cannes last May achieve success around the world. Now, at the beginning of 2019, the results are showing a particularly popular and highly acclaimed 2018 Official Selection, whose 55 films (excluding Cannes Classics and Cinéma de la Plage) have so far received over 228 awards and 558 nominations at festivals, rankings and award ceremonies around the world.

The Festival gives its warmest thanks to those directors who have already taken Cannes' prizewinners to the:

OSCARS 2019: 11 films from Cannes were sent to the Academy this year to represent their countries of origin, and out of the five films nominated in the "Best Foreign Language Film" category, three received prizes at Cannes: Shoplifters by Kore-Eda Hirokazu, Capernaum by Nadine Labaki, and Cold War by Pawel Pawlikovski.

Spike Lee's BlacKkKlansman, winner of the Grand Prix at Cannes, has received six nominations: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor for Adam Driver, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Film Editing & Best Original Score.

Cold War by Pavel Pawlikowski, winner of Best Director at Cannes, continues its impressive run with nominations in three categories at the Academy Awards: Best Foreign Language Film, Best Director and Best Cinematography.

CÉSAR AWARDS 2019: 10 nominations for Gilles Lellouche's Sink or Swim (Le Grand Bain): Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Supporting Actor/Actress, Best Cinematography, Best Editing and Best Sound.

Little Tickles (Les Chatouilles) by Andréa Bescond and Eric Métayer has been nominated five times, including the César for Best First Feature Film.

In the "Best Foreign Film" category, we find four films that won prizes at Cannes: Shoplifters, Girl, Capernaum and Cold War.

Not forgetting Le Grand Bal and The State Against Mandela and the Others, nominated for Best Documentary Film, and Sorry Angel, in which Denis Podalydès is nominated for Best Supporting Actor.

BAFTAs 2019: Caparnaum, Cold War, Dogman and Shoplifters have all been nominated alongside Roma for Best Foreign Language Film. Spike Lee's BlacKkKlansman picked up four nominations: Best Film, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor for Adam Driver and Best Adapted Screenplay. Pawel Pawlikoski's Cold War also features in the Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best Cinematography categories.

GOLDEN GLOBES 2019: Spike Lee's BlacKkKlansman alone has picked up four nominations: Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor.

Of the five films nominated in the "Best Foreign Language Film" category, three came from the Cannes Selection: Shoplifters by Kore-Eda Hirokazu, Caparnaum by Nadine Labaki and Girl by Lukas Dhont.

EUROPEAN AWARDS 2018: of the 19 prizes awarded to films, 13 went to Cannes films. Pawel Pawlikowski's Cold War was European winner of the year, winning a total of five awards: Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Editing & Best Actress Award for Joanna Kulig. Matteo Garrone's Dogman, Lukas Dhont's Girl and Kirill Serebrennikov's Summer, as well as Bergman – A Year In A Life by Jane Magnusson and Another Day of Life by Raul de la Fuente & Damian Nenow were also honoured at the ceremony.

The Festival also wishes to applaud the actors and actresses starring in Official Selection films who have picked up nominations and awards around the world this autumn. For actresses: Tao Zhao in Ash is Purest White by Jia Zhangke and Johanna Kulig in Pavel Pawlikowski's Cold War. For actors: Marcello Fonte in Dogman by Matteo Garrone.
