French actress Eye HAÏDARA will follow Laurent Laffitte as the Mistress of Ceremonies for the 79th edition of the Festival de Cannes that will take place from May 12 to 23, 2026, as revealed today by France Télévisions and Brut, the official partners of the Festival de Cannes.
In Le Sens de la fête (C’est la vie!) directed by Éric Toledano and Olivier Nakache, Eye Haïdara emerged on screen with a free-spirited, lively presence that instantly made an impression, earning her a nomination for the Lumière Award and the César Award for Most Promising Actress. It was an eye-opener for the general public, but certainly did not come about by chance.
Well before this revelation, she made a name for herself in theatre. In 2010, she joined the Académie de Théâtre de Lorient directed by Éric Vigner and took part in many of its productions, including “La Faculté” by Christophe Honoré, which was presented at the Festival d’Avignon.
She made her cinematic debut in 2007 in Regarde-moi (Ain’t Scared) by Audrey Estrougo, who she met again in 2016 in La Taularde (Jailbirds) alongside Sophie Marceau, after briefly appearing in Jean-Luc Godard’s 2008 film. She had a series of collaborations with Michel Leclerc, Cédric Klapisch, Michel Hazanavicius and Lisa Azuelos, and in 2022, she joined the series En thérapie (In Therapy) on Arte.
Over the past few years, Eye Haïdara stepped into the spotlight in Julien Rambaldi’s Les Femmes du square (The Nannies), Sylvie Gautier’s Brillantes (Bright Women), Monsieur le Maire (Take Me Home) by Karine Blanc and Michel Tavares, as well as in Lucas Bernard’s À toute allure (In the Sub For Love). She recently starred in a film by Joachim Lafosse and is currently starring in Mélisa Godet’s La Maison des femmes (A Place For Her). She will soon appear in Rachel Lang’s Mata and Agnès Jaoui’s L’Objet du délit.
Over the fortnight, France Télévisions and Brut will broadcast in-depth coverage and highlights of the Festival.
