Director, screenwriter and producer Maren Ade will preside over the short films and La Cinef Jury of the 78th Festival de Cannes. She will be flanked by director, screenwriter and producer Reinaldo Marcus Green, actress, singer and songwriter Camélia Jordana, producer, photographer and former Director of Filmoteca Española José María Prado Garcia and director and screenwriter Nebojša Slijepčević. Together, they will hand over the Short Film Palme d’or and the 3 La Cinef prizes, the Festival de Cannes’ selection dedicated to student films.
The Jury will discover the 11 films in the Short Film Competition and the 16 films in La Cinef Selection unveiled today.

THE SHORT FILMS COMPETITION
Selected from 4 781 films, 11 shorts will be presented this year in Competition. The selection comprises 9 fiction short films and 2 animated short films. 5 of them are directed by women.
The Short Film Palme d’or will be handed by the Jury chaired by Maren Ade, on Saturday, May 24, during the closing ceremony of the 78th Festival de Cannes.

LA CINEF SELECTION
La Cinef has selected 13 live-action and 3 animated films from among the 2,700 submitted by film schools all over the world.
Three short films coming from schools invited for the first time: Escola das Artes – UCP (Portugal), Super16 (Denmark) and the Estonian Academy of Arts. Estonia is also taking part for the very first time.
The Jury will hand over La Cinef prizes at a ceremony preceding the screening of the awarded films on Thursday, May 22, in the Buñuel Theatre.
