During the gala dinner for Film Industry Professionals to be held on Friday 19 May in the Grand Salon at the Carlton, Pierre Lescure, President of the Festival de Cannes and Thierry Frémaux, General Director, will pay tribute to Jeffrey Katzenberg for his contribution to the animation industry and to film in general throughout the world.

Katzenberg, the co-founder of Dreamworks, has always enjoyed a close relationship with the Festival: in 2001, he presented Vicky Jenson’s Shrek in competition – an extraordinary public and critical success, followed two years later by the second opus, Shrek 2, also presented in Competition. With Dreamworks Animations, he also came to present Over the Edge Out of Competition in 2006, Kung Fu Panda in 2008, Madagascar 3 in 2012 and How to Train Your Dragon 2 in 2014, when he was accompanied on the red carpet by characters from the film.

To mark the opening of a new chapter in his career, the Festival de Cannes has decided, for its 70th anniversary, to present him with an honorary Palme at the evening event, which will bring together major figures from the French and international film industry.
