Best Actress to Charlotte Gainsbourg for her role in “Antichrist”

The award for Best Actress went to Charlotte Gainsbourg for her role in Antichrist.

Prize awarded by Paolo Sorrentino, President of the Un Certain Regard Jury, and Stefano Accorsi.

At the Awards Ceremony, Charlotte Gainsbourg accepted the prize with these words: "Above all, I want to thank the President and members of the Jury. It is a great honor to have won this prize. I thank Thierry Frémaux for being bold enough to program films like Antichrist. I would like to share this prize with director Lars von Trier, who is not here tonight. He enabled me to undergo the most intense, painful, and thrilling experience of my career so far. I also want to thank the film crew, Yvan, and my children, Ben et Alice. A hug for my mother, who was my confidante on the set, and to Willem Dafoe, who was a wonderful partner. And I also have a thought for my father, who would have been proud of me, and proud of being shocked."

At the Laureate press conference, Best Actor and Actress winners faced off with the press one last time:
Charlotte Gainsbourg: "I’m very proud of having been able to work with Lars von Trier. I admire his work. I admire everything he did with this film. I know people had different opinions about [Antichrist], but for me… I had such trust in him. And he’s a great artist. That’s all."
