As part of the 71st Festival de Cannes, the fifth edition of Shoot the Book! will take place on May 15, 2018 at the Palais des Festivals’ Salon des Ambassadeurs from 10:30am to 1:00pm.

The day before the pitch session, May 14, the Institut français and European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs (EAVE), the major association for European audiovisual producers, will be organizing a day about adaptation and international co-production ventures.

Thanks to the initiative of publishers who are part of the SCELF (Société Civile des Editeurs de Langue Française) and the BIEF (Bureau International de l’Edition Française), and in partnership with the Commission du Film d’Ile-de-France and the Institut français, and with the support of the SOFIA and the CFC (Centre Français de la Copie), this event aims to promote the cinematographic adaptation of French literary works of fiction to a group of international producers.

This year, Shoot the Book! continues to reach out to publishers from around the world and is pleased to feature in this year’s selection a publisher from Georgia, the guest of honor at the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2018.

Based on their potential for adaptation, the jury, made up of eleven cinema professionals* from all over the world, has selected ten works (novels, graphic novels) that will be pitched in English by their publishers on May 15.

This year’s selection is made up of the following works:
