    Synopsis

    Venues de la province, des jeunes adolescentes attendent avec anxiété dans l'antichambre du bureau du personnel d'une usine textile. Á Budapest, elles espèrent trouver un emploi et, peut-être, un mari parmi ces garçons montés comme elles à la ville. Pour Jutka, la situation est bien plus difficile; après la mort de ses parents adoptifs, elle cherche à établir le contact avec sa vraie mère qui l'a autrefois laissée à l'assistance publique. La tentative échoue et Jutka se trouve livrée à elle-même. Elle se joint à son amie Zsuzsa. Avec quelques garçons, le groupe passe son temps entre les bars et les cinémas minables, seules distractions après la grisaille de l'usine et le foyer de jeunes filles.
