    Synopsis

Paris at the end of the 17th century. Jeanne is the youngest daughter of the Duke of Luynes. With no dowry and no friends, she seems set to enter the convent, like two of her sisters before her. But light enters into her life on the day that the young Count of Verue comes and asks for her hand in marriage. They get married and he takes her to live in Turin, where he is the King of Piedmont's Chamberlain. She learns everything from him and discovers a certain kind of "happiness" where pleasure and love become intermingled.
