Par la création de ce prix en 2019, l’Association Française des Cinémas Art et Essai (AFCAE) a voulu souligner avec le Festival de Cannes un engagement commun pour le soutien de la diffusion sur grand écran du cinéma d’auteur dans toute sa diversité. L’objectif de cette récompense est également de valoriser le dynamisme et l’ampleur du réseau des cinémas Art et Essai (1 250 établissements français adhérents à l’AFCAE, premier réseau national dans le monde). Le Prix des Cinémas Art et Essai est remis à un film de la Sélection officielle (en Compétition), organisé par l’Association Française des Cinémas Art et Essai en partenariat avec le Festival de Cannes, par un jury national d’exploitant.e.s. La valeur du prix est l’engagement d’un grand nombre de salles Art et Essai à programmer le film ainsi que l’accompagnement promotionnel de la sortie du film par l’AFCAE.

Through the creation of the Art House Cinema Award in 2019, the French Association of Art House Cinema (AFCAE) and the Festival de Cannes wanted to emphasize the common commitment for the support of screening art films in all its diversity. The objective of this award is also to highlight the dynamism and scale of the art house cinemas network (1,250 French establishments members of the AFCAE, first national network in the world). Art House Cinema Award honors a movie among the Official Selection (in Competition) by a French jury of cinema operators and organized by the French Association of Art House Cinema and the Festival de Cannes. Award value is a commitment for an important number of cinemas from the art house network to program the film and the promotional support of the film release by the AFCAE.

Le Jury du Prix de la Citoyenneté est présent au Festival de Cannes pour sa huitième édition. Le Prix a été créé par l’association Clap Citizen Cannes, présidée depuis 2022 par Nabil Ayouch, cinéaste franco-marocain. L’association à vocation philanthropique, culturelle et éducative s’inscrit au-delà de tout clivage et incarne les valeurs universelles et républicaines. Le prix se revendique universel, laïc et humaniste. Il a pour objet de récompenser un film de la Sélection officielle pour ses valeurs érigeant le citoyen en acteur engagé des démocraties. Il promeut au niveau national, européen et international la représentation de la citoyenneté dans les domaines du cinéma, de l’audiovisuel et du multimédia. Enfin, il a pour but de faciliter et d’élargir l’accès du public – et notamment du jeune public – aux œuvres cinématographiques.

Le Jury 2026 présidé par Jean-Paul Salomé, réalisateur et scénariste français, est constitué de Mohamat Amine Benrachid, comédien sud-soudanais et tchadien, de Michel Leclerc, réalisateur et scénariste français, de Fabienne Servan-Schreiber, productrice française, et de Micha Khalil, journaliste culture franco-libanaise à Monte Carlo Doualiya MCD.

The Jury of the Citizenship Award is present at the Festival de Cannes for its eighth edition. It was created at the initiative of Clap Citizen Cannes headed since 2022 by Nabil Ayouch, Franco- Moroccan director. With its philanthropic, cultural and educational vocation, this association is apolitical and embodies universal and republican values. The award aspires to be universal, secular and humanist. Its purpose is to reward the values that make citizens committed actors of democracy. It promotes at the national, European and international levels the representation of citizenship in the fields of cinema, audiovisual and multimedia. Finally, it aims at facilitating and broadening access to cinematographic works for the general public, and especially young audiences.

The 2026 Jury, chaired by Jean-Paul Salomé, French filmmaker and screenwriter, is made up of Mohamat Amine Benrachid, South Sudanese and Chadian comedian, Michel Leclerc, French filmmaker and screenwriter, Fabienne Servan- Schreiber, French producer, Micha Khalil, French-Lebanese culture journalist at Monte Carlo Doualiya MCD.
