The World of Silence (Le Monde du silence): under-water exploration by Cousteau, at the sea

There is no more appropriate place that the Cinéma de la Plage for the screening of the film by Jacques-Yves Cousteau and Louis Malle, Le Monde du silence. As the last screening at the Cinéma de la Plage, this underwater film will be shown in its element, on a screen at the seaside, at 21:30.
The World of Silence (Le Monde du Silence) follows the expedition of Commander Cousteau and his crew on board his laboratory vessel, the Calypso. The divers descend to conquer the tenebrous depths of the sea, an unknown world in which they discover plant and animal life that is rich and vibrant with colour.
At sixty-six metres below the surface, the filming required special technical apparatus. The film crew was immersed in the depths of the Red Sea, the Mediterranean, the Persian Gulf and the Indian Ocean, wearing diving suits with compressed air tanks and under water cameras. The result: The World of Silence is an excursion to the heart of the abyss, which won the Palme d’or of the Festival de Cannes in 1956.
