You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger by Woody Allen – expect to laugh!

Woody Allen

The ever humorous Woody Allen has a singular and incisive outlook on society, life, and love. He’s back at the Festival de Cannes this year for the 11th time with his film, You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger, his 41st feature film! His films have always been presented Out of Competition at his request.

The cast is comprised of Antonio Banderas, Josh Brolin, Anthony Hopkins, Gemma Jones, Freida PINTO (the Indian actress in Slumdog Millionaire by Danny Boyle), Lucy Punch and Naomi Watts. This is their first role in a Woody Allen film, with the exception of Josh Brolin, who starred in Melinda and Melinda (2004).
This new film is Woody Allen’s fourth to be filmed in London, thereby continuing his sequence of European shoots, after Spain and shortly France.
The film’s synopsis – “Love, sex, laughter and betrayal. The lives of several characters whose passions, ambitions and anxieties will lead to all sorts of problems ranging from the zany to the dangerous” – is sufficiently succinct to heighten the anticipation and impatience surrounding the “new” Woody Allen!
His existential ponderings, cultural references, quirky, often black humour, and his acid view of intellectual people are just some of the things that make this director a unique individual whose films are always eagerly awaited… Even though he regularly implies that our perception of him is often mistaken!

The film will be screened at 11:30 a.m., 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the Grand Théâtre Lumière.
