Final Cut – Ladies and Gentlemen, an ode to cinema

György Pálfi presents the closing film in Cannes Classics : Final Cut – Ladies and Gentlemen. A collage film made with the most beautiful love scenes in cinema.

Using over 500 cuts from cult films, the Hungarian filmmaker offers a reflection on the “true love film” and at the same time on “the real man and the real woman“.

The director of Taxidermia, screened in Un Certain Regard in 2007, calls his work a “recycled film”. After Hic, in which he aimed to show the absurdity of our world, here he offers a collage of the best love scenes in film, featuring, among others, Brad Pitt, Leonardo Di Caprio, Ava Gardner, Audrey Tautou… Scenes from Metropolis, Indiana Jones, The Godfather and Avatar compose Final Cut – Ladies and Gentlemen. With this film, György Pálfi gives us more than an assembly of scenes but a true declaration of love for the 7th art.
