Marisa PAREDES

Born in Madrid, Marisa Paredes began her career in the sixties with plays by Spanish language playwrights (Lopez Rubio, Lope de Vega, Valle Inclan, Carlos Fuentes) and foreign authors (Robert Thomas, Félicien Marceau, Peter Schaffer, Tennessee Williams, Samuel Beckett) classics as well as many works by Spanish playwrights. She also played Shakespeare, Ibsen, Schiller, Chekhov, Dostoievsky and Oscar Wilde for television. Her fame grew with more and more important parts in films. Long associated with Pedro Almodovar (Entre Tinieblas in 1983, Tacones Lejanos in 1991, La Flor de mi secreto in 1995, Todo sobre mi madre in 1999), she also supported beginners like Agusti Villaronga and Fernando Trueba. She participated in films by foreign directors like Raul Ruiz for Trois vies et une seule mort in 1996, Arturo Ripstein for Profundo Carmesi in 1996 and Roberto Benigni for La Vita e bella.
