Welcoming you to the 77th Festival de Cannes

© Mathilde Petit-Boh / Festival de Cannes

The Festival de Cannes is delighted to welcome you to its 77th edition from May 14 to 25.

Over the course of 12 days, you will be one of over 35,000 festival goers attending Festival screenings and walking the aisles of the Marché du Film, 35,000 people who have come from all over (160 countries on average each year) and from all different cultures.

Attentive to welcoming you and concerned with the values of liberty and humanism that have always guided it, the Festival would like to offer everyone an environment that is inclusive, kind and safe.

More than 600 hospitality employees are present throughout the Festival’s spaces in order to welcome you and guide you.

To do so, we have implemented a number of services and measures that we would like to remind you of before your arrival in Cannes.

Prevention of sexual and sexist violence and discrimination

Since 2018, the Festival has been committed in the fight against sexual harassment and violence during the event by implementing a dedicated assistance unit.

This commitment is essential at a time when cinema, shaken by revelations of sexual violence that has gone on for far too long, must enter into a new era of awareness and collective action. Our team, which can be reached by phone throughout the duration of the event, is trained to support victims of violence, abuse and/or harassment. Their goal is to listen to victims and support them in any steps they may take with the competent authorities.

We remind you that it is also possible for French speakers to contact the listening and support unit (+33 (0)1 87 20 30 90) operated by Audiens, which offers legal and psychological support.

In addition to these questions, the Festival intends to fight against all forms of discrimination and maintain a climate of trust, one that is professional, warm and friendly. It trains its hospitality and security teams on these subjects, so that everyone can feel included and respected.

The Festival de Cannes does not tolerate any form of insult, violence, discrimination or harassment, whether from its own personnel or festival attendees, and we call on everyone to behave in a manner that is both respectful and responsible in all situations.

Accessibility

Discrimination can also result from difficult physical access to venues. It’s very important for us to offer the best possible service to people with disabilities. Our hospitality service is at your disposal to help you make the most of your festival: individual welcome on site, assistance with getting around the Festival area, access to dedicated seats in the screening rooms and more. All measures are detailed in the Festival pour tous (Festival for all) guide.

Security

Allowing all festival-goers to enjoy a safe environment is also one of our priorities. Security is ensured first and foremost by a comprehensive organization, deployed throughout the town under the authority of the Prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes, in coordination with the Mayor of Cannes and all public services involved: national and municipal police, gendarmerie, civil, maritime and air security, mine-clearing and territorial intelligence services… Security is also ensured, inside the Festival, by 500 security guards posted at all entry points.

Environment

Aware of its environmental impact, the Festival de Cannes is committed to an overarching, voluntary and practical approach, detailed on our website. Each of you has already contributed to this action by paying the €24 eco-contribution, which makes it possible to provide annual support for projects that are beneficial to the environment. You can also participate in reducing our footprint during your stay in Cannes by following some “best practices” that we suggest in the eco-friendly guide.
