For its 25th edition, La Cinef has selected 13 live-action and 3 animated shorts directed by 6 male directors and 10 women directors, from among the 1,528 submitted by film schools all over the world. Four of them are from schools taking part for the first time and these 16 shorts reflect the diversity of filmmaking education in the world.

China – 23'

A beer drinking party is organized by the owner of a paper mill “Fat man” and his employee “Blurred”, in order to celebrate the release of “Bald head” from prison. An unexpected event forces “Fat man” and “Bald head” to start a search for “a blurred good place”, with a river and trees…

Hungary – 22'

Lenke has to face the fact that she has to stop clinging on to her dying relationship after her partner of 8 years blurts out that he's breaking up with her, just before a family dinner. During the dinner, Lenke goes through the stages of letting go but takes one last, desperate act to avoid it.

Poland – 8'

Sometimes in our life we meet someone who see the world in a different way and is able to change our perception. This is what happens to the characters of the film, when they unexpectedly meet.

MISTIDA by Falcão NHAGA

Portugal – 30'

An immigrant mother, hurting from a backache, calls for her son to help carry her groceries home. Along their way, they talk about the future through the past, returning to all of their disagreements, disillusionments, rancor and resentments.

LA CINEF: young filmmakers at Cannes 2022

The 3 La Cinef Prizes will be handed at a ceremony preceding the screening of the awarded films on Thursday 26 May, in the Buñuel Theatre.
