The year is 1917 and World War I is raging on the continent and in Great Britain most able-bodied men are on the front lines in France. Those left behind are involved in the war effort. English map-makers Reginald Anson and George Garrad arrive in the Welsh village of Ffynnon Garw to measure “The Garth” – the local mountain and geographical landmark prized by the village. Much to the consternation of the villagers, the map-makers find that the mountain’s measurements fall short and it cannot appear on the official government map as a ‘mountain’. Led by the irascible Reverend Jones, the libidinous innkeeper Morgan the Goat and the charming and seductive Betty of Cardiff the outraged villagers challenge the cartographers’ measurements and after much conniving and a little sorcery, succeed in
